Why Bother Learning PHP? Print E-mail

So you learned HTML and are pretty good at it, and other stuff like PHP programming comes along and you wonder why you should bother. Aside from about twenty creative uses for your site, there are several big, concrete reasons to learn the language.

The first one is that PHP works fantastic with the HTML that you already know. And, if youve already built a website using HTML, making the move to PHP is super simple. They are actually interchangeable within the page, and that alone will allow you to add new features while the basic features remain in the HTML you originally created. Next, PHP programming is so easy to learn. If you can learn HTML, you can learn PHP! At first, you just learn a few simple functions which will add to your site building vocabulary, and then you can experiment with creating more complicated things like shopping carts which remember past orders or ones that recommend other items from your e-store. Even set up instant messaging systems between your customer and whoever is manning the store. PHP will also allow you to create interactive features that HTML cant. You arent creating a whole new site at all. You are simply building and expanding on what you already have. It keeps the site looking fresh and active at all times, and customers remember those things.

You can find all kinds of handy scripts online that are all but usable as is, but with just a little tweaking around, theyll work for you on your site. Any instruction you need is readily found online, and there are so many sources, you just have to search around for the one that seems easiest to deal with. Everyone is different, and theres a different style of learning for everyone.
